The pilot from Lanzarote and Álvaro Valduérteles overcome a tough edition, marked by breakdowns, dust, and fuel supply problems, to complete nearly 500 kilometers of special stages
Alexis Romero and his co-driver Álvaro Valduérteles have managed to complete the Baja España Aragón 2026, one of the biggest challenges on the international Baja calendar, after facing nearly 500 kilometers of special stages through the lands of Teruel.
The race, which counts towards the Baja World Cup and the European Baja Championship, once again pushed drivers and machines to their limits with a demanding course, a lot of suspended dust, and conditions that left no room for error.
For Alexis Romero, crossing the finish line also has a special meaning. The pilot from Lanzarote was undertaking his third attempt at the Baja España Aragón, after the event had to be suspended last July due to the major fires affecting the areas through which the course ran.
This time, the objective became a reality, although it was not without mechanical difficulties during the stages.

Alexis Romero: “Just finishing it is a satisfaction”
The pilot from Lanzarote summarized his experience upon finishing the race: “It has been a very tough and demanding weekend due to the breakdowns we suffered during the stages. The Baja España Aragón is a race that leaves no room for error or relaxation, so just finishing it is a satisfaction. We really enjoyed ourselves when we were running at our pace, and not so much when we were driving through the dust of the vehicles we were catching up to as the kilometers went by and when the car's performance dropped due to a fuel supply problem. In summary, we are taking away a great experience and a strong desire to keep working to improve in this discipline.”
Reaching the finish line allows Alexis Romero to gain valuable experience in one of the benchmark events of international Bajas, facing the mechanical difficulties and the demands of the course to achieve the goal of becoming a finisher of the Baja España Aragón 2026.
With the experience of having successfully completed the Baja España Aragón 2026 already in hand, Alexis Romero continues to work with his sights set on his great sporting objective: the Dakar 2027.
The pilot from Lanzarote thus faces a new stage of learning and growth within rally raid, accumulating kilometers and experience for new challenges.
