The Costa Teguise Judo Club is in luck. One of its mainstays, Alejandro Ramírez Doblado, has been proclaimed Champion of the Canary Islands last weekend in the senior category.

After concentrating during the last weeks on reaching the ideal weight for the competition in Gran Canaria and after a sports curriculum worthy of envy, the Lanzarote judoka managed to climb to the top of the podium.

The expedition of the Costa Teguise Judo Club, with Rubén Caridad as coach, was not so lucky with the performance of Alejandro Medina in less than 81 kilos because, after losing the first fight against Yone Morales from Tenerife, he was left without options for repechage.

For his part, Alejandro Ramírez, in the category of less than 73 kilos, won in the first round against Sergey Belov from Tenerife, in the second against Sergio Barrameda from Gran Canaria, in the semifinals against Sergio Quintana from Gran Canaria and in the final against Pablo González from the Canary Island.

The president of the club, Antonio Ramírez, considers that “it is always an unbeatable piece of news that a judoka of ours occupies the highest and most prestigious part of the drawer. And even more meritorious that he does it in the current conditions, with regrettable tripping by the Canary Federation, which continues to favor the clubs of the so-called capital islands, certainly neglecting the rest of the Canaries. It is also curious how the Teguise City Council shows its disinterest, once again, for a champion of the municipality. It must be that Oswaldo Betancort does not like judo or sports, that's how Costa Teguise is.

For the rest, very happy for this success of Alejandro despite the inconveniences, once again demonstrating that the judokas of the Costa Teguise Judo Club do not give up in the face of any adversity. Congratulations, Alejandro”.
