Adrián Carabali wins the bronze medal at the Canary Islands U23 Championship

The Auria Badminton Club player was third with Darío Perera in men's doubles

The Canary Islands U19, U23, Senior, and Popular Badminton Championship was held this past weekend, a competition that included the participation of Adrián Carabali on the island of Tenerife. The Auria Badminton Club player, together with Darío Perera, won the bronze medal in men's doubles, and in the individual category, he reached the quarter-final round.

In the men's doubles of the under-23 category, Adrián Carabali teamed up with Darío Perera, a player from Tenzul El Rosario. In the group stage, they achieved victory against Fernando Lorenzo – Jorge Martínez (21-7, 21-9) and Karen Miranda – Denys Shevchenko (21-5, 21-8), and were defeated by Nicolás Les and Samuel Rodríguez (18-21, 17-21).

The two victories in the group stage allowed Adrián Carabali and Darío Perera to access the semi-final round of the U23 Canary Islands Championship. A penultimate round in which they could not overcome Sergio Alonso and Marcos Fajardo (14-21, 18-21), thus achieving the bronze medal in the regional competition.

As for the individual category, Adrián Carabali began the tournament by defeating Óscar Rostro (21-13, 21-14), the number four seed, in the first match. He completed a clean sweep of victories in the group stage against Daniel Martín (21-7, 21-13) and Denys Shevchenko (21-5, 21-14). The player directly accessed the quarter-final round, falling to defeat against Dario Perera (21-16, 14-21, 15-21), who was his teammate in the men's doubles competition.
