"The Tale of the Spoiled Ones"

March 29 2023 (20:37 WEST)

Now I understand when adults tell children, as if it were the greatest insult: "don't be spoiled" because really, over the years, you see that it is, even though a child is much more hurt by a physical disqualification.

Being spoiled speaks of lacking educational foundations and, with it, this could be closely linked to a lack of ethics.

Ethics. That which has been in danger of extinction for some time and already seems to be taken for granted as utopian.

From an ethical and moral point of view, buying babies should, unanimously, be seen as an inhuman activity. After all, it is using the body of another woman, who is going to live, yes or yes, no matter how mentally prepared she is, the most atrocious loss she can experience: that of a child. Curiously, the protagonist of the news has also suffered that loss, and may not have the empathy to see it. But from a biological point of view, she who is a biologist, is more than similar.

I think the main reason is that the commercialization of life should not, no matter how neoliberal a country prides itself on being, be a possible option.

I have heard people firm in their conviction of defending the freedom of the market, speak in the name of the freedom of action of the individual, without taking into account that the freedom of action is absolutely related to the basic needs that individuals have, or do not have, covered.

(Anguita used to say that in order to have principles, you must first have food in the fridge and, paradoxically, I see more and more clearly what a worthy human being he was, who never sold his principles even though the offers to buy new fridges were succulent)

Ana Obregón produces a deep sadness in me, because I can imagine that the pain of losing a child can lead you, in the name of healing that incurable pain, to seek some hope. Whether it is ethical or not. Because pain rarely understands ethics.

But on the other hand, I believe that it is precisely reason and ethics that makes us, sooner or later, save ourselves from pain.

I know that there are countries where the practice of surrogacy is legal, but that something is legal does not imply ethics.
