The great lie, the great cowardice

June 20 2025 (22:07 WEST)

When the PP modified the Senate Regulations on November 16, 2023, to delay the processing of the so-called Amnesty Law, they took advantage of the same process, which, by the way, was declared unconstitutional by the Constitutional Court in a ruling dated March 12 of this year, to also modify said regulation in order to force the President of the Government and the rest of the Government members to appear in the plenary session of the Upper House.

Thus, it was stipulated in its art. 182.1 and 4, that, either at their own request or by agreement of the Board of Spokespersons, where they have a majority due to the weighted vote, and upon request of two parliamentary groups or one-fifth of the senators/as, they have more than half, Pedro Sánchez would be obliged to appear and the ministers as well, with the same requirements, before the plenary.

ZERO requests for the President to appear

They sold it as a great success and several media outlets publicized it as such. A year and seven months after the modification, they are now trying to sell us as a great success that he will have to appear once a month in the control session.

And this is where the great lie lies and the great cowardice of the PP is denoted, and I explain it, above all, for its militants, supporters, and voters. The lie is constituted by the fact that they have repeated ad nauseam that Pedro Sánchez does not want to go to the Senate, and the cowardice lies in hiding the modification described above and in not making use of the right that they themselves gave themselves.

Indeed, the PP, that is, the cowardly right-wing, in the words of Abascal, its partner in several autonomous communities, has never made use of that power: ZERO requests for the president to appear and only four from ministers, namely, Marlaska, Montero, Robles, and Ribera. And look at the issues that have arisen in that year and seven months for them to make the president appear in order to give explanations, well, I repeat, NONE.

At this point in this article or reflection aloud, any reader would normally ask how this is possible.

They can't handle a confrontation with Pedro Sánchez

The answer is not in the wind, as in the song by Bob Dylan. The answer lies in the panic they have of facing the president in a face-to-face. They do not have in their ranks, with all due respect, anyone who, either by oratory, intellectual or political depth, can withstand a confrontation, as we say in Canarian wrestling. Stage fright is what they suffer and try to hide with distraction maneuvers.

The same happens with the rest of the Government members, since in the four appearances I mentioned above, they received such dialectical and argumentative thrashings that they stopped asking them to appear since November 5 of last year.

In short, what happens is that the party presided over by Núñez Feijóo is very brave in the three-minute question format because the difference is less noticeable, it is about placing the headline and that's it, but with Sánchez or with the rest of the Government members in a broad debate, no way, with apologies.

This is the truth that hides the lie and cowardice of the PP, neither more nor less, and I refer to the Senate website so you can verify that what I write is true
