Just a few hours after the count, with the intense emotion experienced on the election night of 23J subsided, a deep feeling of gratitude arises in me towards all the people who have made this great triumph of the Socialist Party possible, in reality a great triumph of democracy.
Thanks to militants, supporters and voters, thanks to the great political maturity of the people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, thanks to the deep democratic convictions of our people, I have been able to revalidate my position as senator. I have also been able to do so with an extraordinary support of more than 21,000 votes, no less than about 6,000 votes more than when I was elected four years ago.
Similarly, my colleague Loli Corujo, who headed the provincial list to the Congress of Deputies, has not only obtained a seat as a deputy, but has also managed to significantly improve, by just over four percentage points, the results obtained by the PSOE four years ago.
“One of the territories with the best results”
Therefore, in Lanzarote and La Graciosa we have exceeded the average of votes obtained by the Socialist Party in the Canary Islands and in the State, which places us as one of the territories with the best results for our political project in the whole country.
None of this would have been possible without the determined participation of those more than 21,000 people who have trusted the PSOE and its candidate for the Senate. Nor would it have been possible without the collective effort of the militants, who mobilized to carry our message of progress, freedom, equality and social justice to every corner.
My deepest gratitude to Alfredo Mendoza and his team in Arrecife, Alfredo Villalba and his team in Haría, Isidro Pérez and his team in San Bartolomé, Marzos Bergaz and his team in Teguise, Pepe Juan Cruz and his team in Tías, Begoña Hernández and his team in Tinajo, and Enara Colmenero and Carmen Guadalupe and their teams in Yaiza.
“Convincing undecided people on the streets”
The municipal leaders are the visible faces of the backbone that sustains the PSOE of Lanzarote and have demonstrated it again by leading, at the same time, the task of filling envelopes with ballots in the headquarters, distributing our proposals for this country house by house and convincing undecided people on the streets of the benefits of our political project.
In the end, everyone has expressed their commitment not to this senator, but to the objective need to continue advancing with the PSOE and with Pedro Sánchez as president. For my part, I commit myself to return to this land and its people, every day, all my effort to achieve the best Spain, the best Lanzarote and the best La Graciosa.
Last Sunday we were risking rights and freedoms, because the extreme right was coming hand in hand with the Popular Party and that alliance could only be stopped with our votes. We have done it and I feel very proud and eternally grateful. Thank you Lanzarote, thank you La Graciosa.

Francisco Manuel Fajardo Palarea, elected senator of the PSOE for Lanzarote and La Graciosa
