Stones in the road

March 15 2019 (21:41 WET)

When we started on this journey, which basically consists of consolidating a citizen project from which to participate in the conception and development of a municipal model more sensitive to the citizen demands of Tías, combining, for this, efforts with a generous, active and dedicated attitude to civic awareness as an essential educational instrument for the creation of solidary and more effective community networks against fearsome current social realities, we were not aware of the consequences of proposing a local management proposal such as the one we are trying to promote.

Behind this project there are many excited people who have worked and work hard, sacrificing their time and scarce resources. We are not and do not want to be better than anyone. We want to be ourselves. The engine that moves most of the people who regularly attend our Assemblies is fueled by the healthy desire to help others. There are many who are having a bad time and, even so, it makes them happy to support other citizens who come to talk to us about everyday problems and of great concern to us (housing, social services, employment, youth, dependency, etc.). Nothing new on the horizon...

We accompany them and care about everyone. And I think it is this vision that gives us some credibility and social confidence. We believe in what we say, trying to apply it to ourselves, with greater or lesser success, but we try. We have never sought accommodation (despite having been tempted by some to use this social strength that characterizes us in exchange for a handful of votes or a seat that we do not want at any price) nor have we proposed an aggressive and/or populist strategy to achieve particular interests. We insist that our interest is the search for the common good. We can say it louder but not clearer....

I know that these words have been used, on many occasions, or by many, in an evil way, but we (maybe we are being naive) continue to believe in them. Others (most unfortunately) distrust with reason because the panorama and the image of political parties in general is painful. Many young and valuable people flee from politics because they are tired of stories and, above all, of storytellers...

SOPHISTICATES ARE NOT NEEDED ON THE ISLAND.

We keep trying, but we are surprised at how rotten some are. The thief thinks everyone is of his condition... But it is still the belief of the thief.... We are not going to go with any tutor nor will we pay much attention to third-rate preachers. We have personality, our own DNA, desire, a lot of desire, to combat mafia tricks. We do not admit pressure from anyone. You don't play with people's circumstances, nor do we believe in saviors of the homeland who propose unions that only benefit a few. No, no, NOOOO. We don't feel like looking the other way. The stones in the road end up being avoided, the will and spirit of a solid group moves mountains.
