Difficult times are approaching for the society of Lanzarote in general. Never before as healthcare professionals have we faced anything like this, but I want to offer a message of reassurance to all citizens of the islands as an Emergency Nurse at the Dr. Molina Orosa Hospital. I am completely sure that all my colleagues are prepared to fight with all our strength on the front line of "battle" against Covid-19 or Coronavirus.
With vocation and sacrifice we assume the responsibility of having this profession, even knowing that health crises like this could arrive at any moment of our working life, and that in such case we would not hesitate to be 100% to offer all our service in order to safeguard collective health with the maximum commitment, even risking our own health and that of our families.
Moments like this reflect how important it is to have a quality public system, since one wonders where the private sector is.
Today I am proud to see attitudes and comments from colleagues willing to face, possibly soon in our hospital and health centers, face to face with the virus without fear, with security and with all the professionalism that identifies us, even doubling shifts if necessary, whether they are doctors, nurses, assistants, orderlies, technicians, etc.
To all of them, thank you and encouragement. To society in general, I say #StayHome, since complicated times are upon us, but we will win the "war".
