There are times when administrations and entities working for animal welfare have the opportunity to meet professionals whose dedication often goes beyond the fulfillment of their obligations.

People who understand their work as a true public service and who, thanks to their commitment, contribute decisively to building a more just and respectful society for animals.

The recent awarding of the National Gold Award for initiatives and good practices in animal protection to the sergeant of Seprona of the Civil Guard in Lanzarote, Gloria Moreno, is news that deserves to be celebrated in Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

This is a national recognition that highlights an exemplary, relentless career, marked by the constant fight against animal abuse, abandonment, and illegal trafficking of species.

As the Minister of Animal Welfare of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, I have had the opportunity to witness her professionalism, her rigor, and, above all, her permanent willingness to collaborate to ensure that things are done correctly.

She has always shown a constructive attitude, based on dialogue, institutional coordination, and the conviction that animal protection requires the joint effort of all administrations and involved organizations.

This award not only recognizes the merits of an exceptional professional but also highlights the silent work carried out daily by many officers who ensure compliance with legislation and the defense of those who cannot defend themselves.

In Gloria Moreno's case, this work has also been a benchmark for numerous entities and professionals in the field of animal protection.

Therefore, I want to extend my most sincere congratulations and publicly thank her for her dedication, her approachability, and her constant collaboration.

Recognizing people like Gloria Moreno is also recognizing the values that should guide public action through commitment, responsibility, and a vocation for service.
