Quevedo, don't go

February 6 2024 (19:02 WET)

Selfishly, we would all want Quevedo not to leave.

But this LAST one has been so revealing and at the same time welcoming, that I think it would be unfair to ask for such a thing.

The courage to put mental health and stability before what has historically been called "success", that which had a lot to do with excessive productivity, doing, doing, doing and not decaying, not questioning anything to continue doing and having...

The truth is that the easy and simple thing would be to stay and continue billing and making money.

And no, the path that often leads to success is undoubtedly leaving. To heal, to go back to being a NORMAL person.

It is meritorious to sing because it hurts and not so that they give you an Award. And it is even more meritorious at 22 years old, when you usually want EVERYTHING, to see fame as fleeting and the material as ephemeral.

But without a doubt, it is even more meritorious to put all your friends and artists with whom you have made your way in your farewell song and to whom you give your space for the relay. Give them all the prominence without having to appear yourself. That is only done by the great, who curiously are always the ones who remain in the background.

Hopefully Pedro can walk through LPGC with tranquility from La Isleta to El Calero. And hopefully he will achieve what he seeks, even if we don't know exactly what it is.

As a Canary Islander, I feel that Quevedo deserves a "Canary Islands Award", the highest distinction granted by the Government of the Canary Islands, for having put the Canary Islands on the map like very few others.

As a Canary Islander, I take out the flag and wear the pintadera on the chain with pride that my uncle gave me when I was born.

Surely, the aborigines would like to know that the Canarian identity persists in this land, with our symbology and our idiosyncrasy, in part, thanks to figures like Quevedo.

Because let's be honest, there is a before and after in this land with Quevedo.

And although I can only sing a "stay"... I know that what we should all sing is a "See you soon"
