"Overwhelmed"

March 21 2019 (23:50 WET)

Over the past few weeks, our party has had to face unpleasant situations that, apparently, are usually commonplace (they have become normalized and are accepted with such naturalness that most citizens resign themselves to their existence) when local elections are approaching. We can understand that not everyone responds in the same way to the "tension" involved in participating in this process, but, in truth, we are seeing attitudes and behaviors that smack of an era, certainly not so far away in these lands (how fragile is the collective memory), in which vassalage relations were imposed (times of feudal lords).

Although things have not changed so much (now slavery is dressed in labor exploitation, an alienating education that encourages single thought and systematically avoids the diversity and sensitivity of other expressions or talents, an impoverished and backward health system, preachers full of easy speeches that incubate fear and blame the weakest groups for current social miseries), we are overwhelmed by the pettiness and bad habits that are being used (better not to go into details, we are ashamed just to mention them) for a handful of votes...

There is a lot of talk... Blah, blah, blah. Too many precious things are said and promised to citizens in these months without any shame. Many are guided by the motivation to obtain or maintain a certain social recognition, they feel safer within the umbrella that this "citizen status" gives them. Others are driven by greed and power... But most do not know how to defend in depth the project they have planned for their municipality or island... They are politicians of the living room and armchair who do not know the reality or the suffering of many people... They are positioned very far from the citizens (with full awareness on the part of a few puppeteers, true modern feudal lords) and the most disturbing thing is that they have become accustomed to manufacturing the "priorities and needs of their neighbors", ignoring the popular and daily roar, increasingly uprooted. A separate case deserves the "pactistas" who go for the sofa forgetting the smaller armchair of accommodated buttocks (we will deal with it at another time...),

In short, personal accommodation is sought and the common good is banished. Despotism and lack of transparency are imposed, stifling community building based on active participation, openness of information and the enrichment that comes from the diversity of visions.
