No time to lose

The seriousness of the social and economic situation that our country is going through has forced the Government of Spain to work against the clock. Last week, President Pedro Sánchez presented the Recovery Plan with 140,000 million euros that will begin to be invested this year and will continue until 2026. A social shield to recover economic activity, especially helping the people and sectors most affected by this health crisis.

This plan is, without a doubt, the most ambitious in democracy in Spain. Public investment will take the biggest leap in its history accompanied by a major structural reform. In fact, the effects will begin to be noticed this year, thanks to the creation of quality employment accompanied by green policies that guarantee the ecological transition.

Unfortunately, the political climate that some formations have established, with the clear objective of overthrowing the Government with the excuse of the pandemic, makes any agreement seem impossible. And even more so when those who consider themselves the great defenders of the homeland and its people are capable, despite the cynicism they show in the institutions, of urging Europe to put obstacles to our country, delay that aid to use it as a weapon in the circus that they have wanted to turn the Congress of Deputies and the rest of the institutions into.

In Spain there is a lot of work to do and it is not the time to waste time on smoke screens manufactured by the right and the extreme right. The Government is focused on promoting social measures and public investment. 70,000 million euros will be allocated to this sector and 37% to guarantee the ecological transition.

It is true that, on occasions, some measures have arrived late and therefore we must apologize and be self-critical about the errors that have been committed in this health management. Yes, we are very clear about the recipe for overcoming the economic crisis: more public investment and more social spending. More Welfare State.
