Neither Spanish nor Moroccan

The issue of oil has raised a threat over us that many still do not see.

It is not just about the poisoning of 100% of the drinking water of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura; it is not that we are going to get tourism to flee our beaches; it is that now the Canary Islands are at high risk, because there are many possibilities that Spain will end up selling us to Morocco.

It amuses me when the historical or malicious ignorance of some people tries to overlook that Spain sold the island of Cuba to the USA at the end of the 19th century, faking a war without witnesses on the high seas, just as the USA did with the explosion of its ship anchored in the port of Havana.

As well as the Madrid Tripartite Agreement or Madrid Agreements, or that closed deal between Spain, Morocco and Mauritania on Western Sahara, signed on November 14, 1975 in Madrid, where the sale of the then Spanish Sahara was closed. Among whose economic agreements stipulated the transfer to Morocco of 65% of the company Fos Bucraa, which exploited the rich phosphate deposits of Western Sahara, in exchange for Spain obtaining fishing rights for 800 ships for 20 years. Fishing agreement that Morocco breached, although it is not surprising considering that Spain sold weapons to both sides during the war between Saharawis and Moroccans.

Today, the greatest fear I have is the ignorance of the Canarian People of the ways of acting of Spain and that they believe that being under Spanish administration is like "being protected". To the Canary Islands, the only authentic protection would come with the international recognition of its complete independence and status as a free country. Since, as I say, history demonstrates the danger of being a Spanish overseas possession.

That is why my commitment to that option in the European elections called "The Peoples Decide". Because it starts from the recognition and exercise of the right to self-determination, independence and sovereignty that the EU does not ask member countries to comply with. On the contrary, they are capable of vetoing referendums, popular consultations and any democratic act that goes against the imperialist exercise that the "owners or administrators" of the, now called, ultraperipheral regions, which are nothing more than the colonies of yesteryear, continue to practice in the 21st century.

Because it is clear that, either the European Union changes course, or its days are numbered.
