It's curious how in the same weekend, the concept that some and others have of the youth of this land can be so clearly demonstrated, and how only a project for everyone has the capacity to change things.
And I say it's curious because, with only a few hours difference, we have been able to see the president of the PP of Lanzarote talking about how the public cannot be in the hands of young people because "they have demonstrated their inability to manage," calling those of us who, according to her, have had the audacity to want to do so, kids.
But, fortunately on the other hand, this same weekend we have attended the most important conclave of a political formation that, on the contrary, is committed to reinforcing the experience of those who were already there with the desire and new ideas of those who join the project.
These are, without a doubt, two opposing positions. That of someone who tries to undermine the desire and enthusiasm of anyone who tomorrow could pose a danger to their interest in continuity, and that of someone who strives every day to add and encourage everyone who has something to contribute to the improvement of our society.
I am one of the latter, one of those who believe in teams, one of those who believe that in politics everything adds up. The experience and know-how of those who, whether old or not, had their interest and desire to improve things awakened some time ago, and those who join to do so with the freshness and new ways that are often needed.
In our organization we have been clear about it. In Lanzarote we have been committed for years to incorporating into our ranks everyone who wants to and has something to contribute. A sum that does not detract from the experience and good work of those who simply arrived earlier.
Everyone without exception, the old and the young, those born and those who arrived, those trained in the classrooms and those trained in life. Everyone without exception can contribute our grain of sand to improve things.
David is young, yes, a young man with desire and enthusiasm who knows what it costs to change things. A vehement politician in the defense of his ideas and insistent on the consequence of his objectives, a tireless worker and serious defender of democracy and majorities. A convinced nationalist who knows that, in this project, ours, the "of the kids" as Astrid Pérez would say, is the best alternative to transform Arrecife, Lanzarote and the Canary Islands into the place where we want to live.
Arrecife needs many "kids" like David. People with the desire to leave the comfort of their home, their work and their close circle to contribute and work to improve things.
Congratulations companion, I say it convinced: It is an honor to have "kids" like you.
