Environment in Lanzarote ceased to exist the day Enrique Perez Parrilla (PSOE) assumed the powers from the Government of the Canary Islands. From then on, only the urban issue existed as the sole focus of environmental attention. This issue of profound importance has never received the social and institutional attention it deserves, much less political attention. Reality perhaps demonstrates that the best thing to do is to return those powers given the absolute incompetence of the Cabildo, and from there take up the issue again. In all of this, as an example, the Chinijo Archipelago Natural Park, which was left parked in the limbo of time, without any management. To the extreme of having its protection revoked by a court ruling. This irresponsible neglect portrays not only the PSOE, but also the PIL, CANARY ISLANDS COALITION and PP. I don't know if this is what the President is referring to when she says she will investigate responsibilities for the rally.
In reality, the councillor Elena Solis, the "irresponsibility" she has committed is to remember that the Environment is a tangible, socially and internationally recognised reality and that the Cabildo of Lanzarote has the responsibility for its management. They were so clueless about this issue, they considered it so minor that they left it in the hands of Podemos.
And now they awaken from the lethargy of decades of neglect and decay, and they see that the Environment is everything. And that all their businesses, scams, influences and so on may be at risk, if someone, irresponsibly for them, dedicates themselves to applying the rules. Or simply, to putting them on the tables where the socio-political-economic affairs of the conejera fly are negotiated.
If the President were to commission a serious and impartial study of the attitude and exercise of responsibilities of her party regarding the management entrusted to the Cabildo with the assumed transfers of Environment, she would possibly see the need to resign and dissolve the party in Lanzarote. But of course, instead of looking in the mirror at her own mistakes, she will look at the others and conclude "I am more beautiful". And so we will continue in this eternal struggle of who is the least useless of the useless in environmental management. As if that existed.
