While the oil companies move to more fertile grounds and Paulino escapes through corridors, to give way to Clavijo's moderate and conservative discourse (the famous innocent defendant), the Canary Islands move to the small columns of the press and the haze or haze leaves the "outermost region" under Spanish administration in the background again.
It is clear that the attention of a State that has always been centralist, legitimized by the monarchical mantle, resumes its own after the independence threat that Rivero launched "with a crooked mouth" was lifted, knowing that he had no public power to represent any independentist. In other words, he never had the support of the independentists to threaten Spain.
In Madrid they are now more concerned with extra-subsidizing the nationalities that are a real threat to "one, free and democratic" Spain than with the tamed, politically fractured lambs of the distant regions under Spanish administration, formerly known as Colonies. It is not clear when they ceased to be so, if that were the case.
It is very clear that the Canary Islands will be taken into account again when the independence movement in the Archipelago is strengthened, not before. Because all the political forces, whether they are branches of Madrid or not, play an adequate role in the perpetuation of 21st century colonialism. All are accomplices of the powers of multinationals, religions, financial powers, Europeanism and the internationalism of the markets, and do not jeopardize the current status of the Archipelago.
The day will come when the inhabitants of the Canary Islands will be clear that our primary interest is to truly govern ourselves. To be sovereign with what is ours. To achieve independence from the Spanish administration and earn the right to decide that elevates the dignity of the Peoples.
That day may be approaching with the upcoming elections in the Archipelago. Forcing Spain to put another interest in us, as it does with the Catalans today, or with others who claim their fair right to self-determination without complexes and with political maturity. Our future is in our hands.
