Balance of the semester of mandate in Teguise

January 2 2024 (19:57 WET)

We have closed 2023 and the first semester of the municipal mandate, after the past elections in May. It has been a short period, but enough to make the first decisions and consolidate the first achievements.

And we understand politics as a government action that includes decision-making. A decision-making that is sometimes liked and sometimes not so much, because it is almost impossible to please everyone, but it is clear that what is really interesting and what worries us is to adopt measures that benefit the majority.

And that is what we have done with the old expropriations of Tahiche, Caleta de Famara and Caleta de Caballo. After cases that come from a long time ago and that have had this city council tied up for many years.

But fortunately it is now a solved problem and a first achievement obtained. It has been like taking a great weight off our shoulders and resetting the counter. Starting this year 2024 free from this problem that has haunted us for years and that has limited the maneuverability of our management at the head of the City Council.

There has been disagreement about the formula used, but we have decided to pay its cost and avoid paying more interest. In this way, we get rid of that "mortgage" on our future, avoid financial blockages and we will be able to have liquidity and resources for investments, services and supplies that our people need.

That has been our first fulfilled commitment. An objective that will benefit us and allow us to face the new year with better prospects. We put an end to a situation that has been conditioning us for years and allows us to address in a practical and effective way the interests, needs and basic services of the residents of Teguise.

Now begins an exciting year where we hope to improve the living conditions of all our people, increasing social attention and investing in new and renovated infrastructures. Little by little we will face new situations, solving some problems that are pending and facing new challenges. We have a beautiful year ahead of us.
