"About awards and award winners"

A little more (euphemism) common sense is needed in the planning of "sustainable community models that are aspired to reach." First, I will say that I am not against awarding prizes and recognitions to sustainability and innovation projects in areas such as hospitality, architecture, tourism, environmental protection, etc. It is good to nurture and promote the pursuit of excellence in any economic, professional, cultural, social, etc. sector. But one should also distinguish between awards and cleaning strategies. Let me explain. In many cases, these recognitions are framed within marketing plans aimed at covering up "contradictions" between words and objective facts. It is unacceptable that some of these awards, with a certain social prestige, are given to those who have "much to keep silent" about the increase in the degradation of the environment we live in on this island and about the impunity of non-compliance (no need to name names, there are plenty of examples) with urban planning regulations, social protection, etc.

They talk to us about the care/conservation of the environment and about building "sustainable models" (a concept so misused that it has worn out its authentic nature, it has been repeated so much that it has lost its effectiveness) and pioneers, but, on the other hand, it is the same people who have been profiting all their lives at the expense of the precarious employment of many families and justifying their actions through complicated artifices of decorum (physical, administrative, legal, etc.). Significant environmental abuses are evidenced under the protection of a self-interested and calculated aesthetic. We skip the laws, but it looked pretty, damn it! Permissiveness and understanding are shown to those who ignore the procedures and add wills to their cause (it often happens that some of these characters feel like victims, misunderstood in their "saving motivations" of humanity). On the other hand, these excesses could not have been consummated (I am not discovering anything, nor am I an enlightened person saying this), without the complicity and the "firewall" effect that bureaucrats, politicians, various trade associations, media (image laundering is essential to perpetuate the "great racket"), legal experts in the field, etc. have played. Everyone knows it, but they continue to encourage these situations. Nothing changes, yesterday's photos return. The permanent complaint is consolidated among the people, there is plenty of armchair and destructive criticism against those who are fighting to improve things.
