The islet of Fermina hosted this Friday the tribute and recognition to the 126 professionals from the island's health centers who have retired in the last three years.

The event was presided over by the director of the Health Area, Noelia Umpiérrez, and the manager of the Health Services, José Luis Aparicio, and was attended by members of the management team and the colleagues and relatives of the honorees.

During the event, an emotional tribute was paid to the 126 professionals belonging to different categories: Nursing, Nursing assistants, Medicine, orderlies, administrative assistants and laboratory technicians from Primary Care and Specialized Care. All of them have retired over the last three years, although the pandemic had made this traditional farewell and thank you meeting impossible.

In the tribute, a diploma and an identification card for retirees from the health centers were presented as a sign of gratitude to each of the workers who are beginning to enjoy a new stage in their lives.

During his speech, the manager of the Lanzarote Health Services, José Luis Aparicio, congratulated the honorees and highlighted the "responsible, committed and dedicated work of all the professionals who have concluded their working life in recent years" and the "great service that health professionals provide in the community, through the care of citizens' health." He also highlighted "the work carried out by all of them, especially during the pandemic, in which they played a key role."

The retired Palliative Care doctor, María Jesús Pérez Díaz, gave voice during the event to the honored professionals, and pointed out the effort and dedication of all during their working lives to provide the highest quality care to patients. "A working life that leaves unforgettable moments in each professional and that has been a learning experience to face the future as retirees with enthusiasm," Pérez Díaz concluded.
