The Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries of the Government of the Canary Islands has granted a subsidy valued at 103,000 euros for the project called 'Revaluation of the Salinas de Janubio, diversification towards ecotourism and the blue economy'.
The objective of the subsidy, according to the Ministry, is "the recovery of the salt architectural cultural heritage with the rehabilitation of the mills, drafting of the environmental document for the application of permits, redesign of the interpretive route and the audits of tour operators." In addition, they add that this initiative "contemplates the promotion through the preparation of brochures and advertising of the tourist product".
With this aid, from the FEMP, the Ministry says that "it also contributes to the sustenance of an ancestral activity, in addition to preserving our landscapes and promoting a tradition so rooted in the Archipelago".
From the Government of the Canary Islands recall that the autonomous department convened, earlier this week, "a new edition of the Official Competition of Sea Salt Agrocanarias 2021, which will be held in Gran Canaria on 16 and 17 November in its preliminary and final stages, respectively."
Finally, they add that the purpose of this contest is "the promotion and dissemination of sea salt and salt flats of the Canary Islands to publicize its diversity and contribute to the improvement of production."
