The Youth Department of the Arrecife City Council, directed by Rosmen Quevedo, has organized a new edition of Youth Week, which will be held from August 11 to 17 with a varied program designed to promote the active participation of young people in the municipality in cultural, artistic, sports and training activities.
The program kicks off on Monday, August 11 with an art exhibition that will be present throughout the week, with works by Nora de Frutos, Daiby and other local talents. From early in the morning, workshops and activities will be carried out by the PFAE monitors, along with a talk-workshop on first aid given by Civil Protection. In the afternoon, the Somos Teatro collective will develop a theater workshop, and the athlete Jairo Ospina will share his experience and trajectory in a talk open to the young public.
Throughout the week there will be activities ranging from health issues, such as domestic accidents or mental health (with the participation of the CRIBO collective), to artistic expression workshops such as watercolor painting or urban dance masterclasses, which will be part of the San Ginés Xperience. There will also be spaces for digital creativity, with radio and podcast workshops organized by Chrysallis and Juan Marcos Vergara, or the dynamization of gaming areas, which are highly demanded by young people.
Sports and urban culture will also have their space with the final of the Neighborhood League, an airsoft activity by Airsoft Panther Lanzarote and Kizomba workshops by Neiza Kisikomba. Also noteworthy is the talk on sharks offered by the researcher Giancomo Palavisini, which will seek to awaken scientific and environmental interest among attendees.
On Thursday the 14th, urban music will take center stage with a youth concert featuring artists such as Meisara Official X, Stiff777, Tony Giova, Dxpe_mind and Dalu.13. During the weekend, the San Ginés Rock Festival will liven up the nights of Friday and Saturday in the Plaza del Almacén, while on Sunday the program will close with Land with Talent, an artistic exhibition of young creators in the Ramírez Cerdá Park.
The Councilor for Youth, Rosmen Quevedo, who has stressed the importance of continuing to generate meeting spaces for young people, points out that "we want the young people of Arrecife to feel heard, to have access to activities that motivate them, inspire them and help them grow as people. This Youth Week is a firm commitment to participation, creativity and healthy enjoyment of free time."
Quevedo added that the program has been designed taking into account the interests and proposals of the municipality's own young people, combining training, culture, sports and entertainment.
"We continue working to offer alternatives that respond to the concerns of our youth, and we do so with the support of associations, artists and groups that enrich this offer with their talent and commitment," he said.
