The Yaiza City Council has tendered for the acquisition of two patrol cars for its Local Police. This was indicated by the City Council, which pointed out that the announcement appeared published in the Official Gazette of the Province last Wednesday and has a budget of 52,000 euros. This announcement by the corporation comes just days after the criticism from Coalición Canaria, which denounced that some of the vehicles used by the agents are more than 10 years old and considered their condition "third world".
"The economic recovery of the City Council presided over by Gladys Acuña has allowed us to undertake investments with our own resources and fulfill obligations as was unthinkable in 2011, when the Institution was in a situation of bankruptcy", the City Council points out. Thus, it points out that "with the approval of the 2016 budget, Yaiza announced in January the purchase of new vehicles to improve the Local Police fleet".
The mayoress, Gladys Acuña, has pointed out that "the public tender has been underway for some time to solve another of the needs of the Police, as well as in January we acquired personalized protection vests with the aim of improving the safety of our agents". The municipal government, reiterates the mayoress, "will not spare efforts to guarantee the safety of the Corps and the residents".
"In the interest of the policy of transparency and closeness with the citizens that Yaiza has been applying since the last legislature, the municipal website publishes punctually in the profile banner of the contracting party all the tenders in progress, the awards and the deserted procedures. Of course, the technical characteristics that the new vehicles of the Local Police must meet are published there, among others, fully equipped hybrid cars for patrolling, thus, Yaiza also contributes to the preservation of the environment", concludes the municipal statement.
