The mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, reports that the City Council is carrying out works for two weeks in the public schools of Las Breñas and Femés to facilitate the implementation of the school canteen service from the next school year: “We are undertaking all the necessary reforms so that the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands can start the service in both centers. It is an initiative agreed with the competent Administration”.
The actions focus on the kitchen and adaptation of the spaces that will be used by boys and girls. “We optimize the distribution, functionality, ventilation, lighting, finishes and hygiene conditions for the comfort and safety of our students and kitchen staff”, says the Councilor for Education of Yaiza, Silvia Santana, who accompanied the mayor on the visit made this Monday to CEIP Las Breñas.
Yaiza maintains contact with the island director of Education, Carmen Pellón, “with whom we work in a coordinated manner to guarantee the activity of these two new canteens from September”. The canteens will operate through a catering service, so the intervention projects in Las Breñas and Femés provide sufficient endowments to allow the provision of the service.
