The Ministry of Public Works, Housing and Mobility of the Government of the Canary Islands has put out for public consultation this Friday the Layout Project of the Yaiza-Arrecife road for the duplication of the LZ-40, between the César Manrique airport and Puerto del Carmen, on the road known as Las Playas road.

The budget to develop this duplication of the LZ-40 amounts to 35,256,805.08 euros. In addition, it foresees its development between the Airport junction (link zero) and the tourist areas of Matagorda and the different urbanizations of the coastal town of Puerto del Carmen.

Currently, the road is composed of one lane in each direction, with 3.5 meters wide and 1.5 meter shoulders. This new initiative aims to convert this space into an A-80 highway, which has two lanes in each direction, 3.5 meters wide, an inner shoulder of one meter and an outer one of 2.5 meters.

The procedure will be available within 30 working days, starting this Friday, December 15. Thus, the project can be consulted in full on the website of the Ministry.

The allegations of the project must be submitted to the Vice-Ministry of Infrastructure. In addition, this initiative must be submitted to an ordinary environmental impact procedure, which is included in articles 7.1 and annex I of Law 21/2023, of December 9, on environmental assessment.
