The vice president and Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, and the Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, visited this Tuesday the beginning of the works of replacement of the grass and the athletics track of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote.
“After a decade in which this space has not been improved, we are investing more than one million euros to adapt this facility that is so used in the capital”, said the vice president, who also pointed out that this work “has a execution period of four months”.
The Minister of Sports, Juan Monzón, pointed out that the Island Sports Service was aware “of the need and urgency to undertake works in this facility”. “Not only is it one of the main soccer fields, but the only track approved to host athletics competitions in Lanzarote”, he added.
In the previous days, the removal of the old grass was carried out, which is completely uninstalled, even removing the rubber and sand that existed under the artificial grass.
Now, the works will be based on the installation of the new grass and the replacement of the pavement of the athletics track, with the use of top quality materials that allow high level competitions.
The work of replacing the grass and pavement of the Ciudad Deportiva Lanzarote is financed with the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN) and with own funds from the Cabildo de Lanzarote.
