The Teguise City Council has paid the transport grants for students from the municipality and La Graciosa. This was reported by the council in a press release.
In total, 322,000 euros have been distributed among 635 students in the municipality. According to the note, the municipal body "is the first city council in Lanzarote to respond to the need of students to pay for their transfers" for this course.
"During the current course, we have continued working for the education and well-being of our students, managing to comply with the payment in a timely manner," mentioned the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort.
He also emphasized "the timely coordination work between the Economy and Education areas, which has allowed an efficient and effective management of municipal resources to meet a demand from the educational community."
"In total, we have allocated 3.5 million euros to the students of Teguise and La Graciosa since we started our political project in 2011, always with the commitment to increase year after year, not only these aids to students, but also to other important sectors of our society, especially in the social field, but also to the sports family, cultural, the primary sector and environmental projects," adds Betancort.
He also shows his "firm commitment to continue working for the well-being of our society and in fulfilling our responsibilities as public managers."
"We want to emphasize that these aids are of great importance for many families who cannot afford the travel costs for their sons and daughters," said Javier Díaz as Councilor for Education, also expressing "Teguise's commitment to guarantee access and the exponential increase of these aids."
"This new economic item serves 635 applications from students who have submitted their documentation in a timely manner," explains Miguel Ángel Jiménez as head of Economy. In this sense, he recalls "that the amount has tripled, progressively increasing the amount each new academic year," and ensuring "that there is already a reserved item for the 2023/2024 academic year."
