Puertos Canarios, has registered in the first semester of the present year 2017 a total traffic of 1,985,799 passengers of regular line between the ports of regional ownership, which supposes an increase of 5.4% in relation to the same period of 2016.

Manuel Ortega, manager of Puertos Canarios, pointed out that "the data shows us an important development scenario. The evolution of inter-island maritime passenger transport is positive and encouraging, and we will continue working to favor this situation. This is undoubtedly due to the socio-economic expansion that our islands are experiencing, with special incidence in tourist activity".

All ports of regional ownership have seen an increase in regular passenger traffic in the first half of 2017. Specifically, the most exponential growth has been experienced by passenger traffic registered between the ports of Órzola, in the north of Lanzarote, and Caleta de Sebo, in La Graciosa, which has increased by more than 30,000 passengers in relation to the same semester of 2016, with a total of 164,239 passengers.

For its part, the port of Las Nieves, in Gran Canaria, has reached nearly 22,000 more passengers than in the same dates of 2016, with a total of 422,986 passengers.

On the island of Fuerteventura, the port of Morro Jable has achieved an increase of more than 8,000 travelers with a total of 208,239 passengers, consolidating itself as one of the main connections of the island of Majorera with Gran Canaria.

Likewise, the passenger traffic between the port of Corralejo, also located in Fuerteventura, and the port of Playa Blanca, located in Lanzarote, is once again consolidated as the connection bridge with the highest traffic, reaching a total of 508,732 users, with an increase of approximately 9,000 passengers.
