Question to the Minister of Ecological Transition regarding the dismantling of Montaña Mina.

The PSOE deputy for Lanzarote, Marcos Bergaz, has asked the Minister of Ecological Transition and Energy, Mariano Zapata (PP), about the dismantling of the abandoned Montaña Mina wind farm, which the Ministry pledged to carry out "imminently" in April of this year, but has not yet dismantled.

Bergaz expressed his satisfaction this Friday after receiving confirmation from Mariano Zapata (PP) that the start of the dismantling work will take place next week, with an approximate cost of 243,000 euros.

"It is the first time that the Government is going to dismantle a wind farm in our land," the Minister of Ecological Transition said on December 5, in response to a question from the socialist deputy. "If everything is fulfilled, next week the Canary Islands Government will begin the long-awaited removal of the abandoned Montaña Mina wind farm," the Canary Islands Minister announced to the socialist deputy from Lanzarote.

For the moment, in the area only the structure of a windmill that fell in January of this year has been removed, which cost 12,000 euros. Thus, in this space, which belongs to the municipality of San Bartolomé, four wind turbines, five foundations, the control house and the underground line remain to be demolished.

This park has been out of use since 2017, after the administrative authorization for commissioning was granted in March 1992.

For Bergaz, "it is good news that the works are starting to put an end to the bad image, insecurity and complete abandonment of this installation, which has motivated several requirements from the San Bartolomé City Council to the Government of the Canary Islands for its subsidiary dismantling in accordance with article 25 of the Regulation governing the Installation and Operation of Wind Farms, approved by Decree 6/2015, of January 30".

"I hope that, as announced during the parliamentary question, and now the Minister himself specifies, the planned schedule will be met and before the end of the year, if weather conditions allow, the beginning and end will be put to this problem," adds Bergaz, who concludes by saying "it would be a positive way to end this 2024, which I wish to share with the Minister of Ecological Transition, Mariano Zapata, and the mayor of the municipal corporation, Isidro Pérez".
