The President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, has shown this Monday his desire for the four-party coalition that started the Legislature -PSOE, NC, Sí Podemos and ASG- to reach the next elections despite the "movements" and "soap operas" that he has stated always open in the Canary Islands, especially in summer.
"My will is to finish the Legislature with the Government that started," he indicated in an interview on the regional radio station, in which he points out that he cannot "martyr himself" over issues that do not depend on himself.
"I closed a Government for 4 years, it is progressive, and I am satisfied, it does not mean that it cannot be done better but they are working hard," he added.
Regarding the Minister of Social Rights, Noemí Santana, who warned that her party, Sí Podemos, could leave the Government if her Ministry did not receive more resources, Torres has defended that there has been an "improvement", for example, with the budget execution or the hiring of 100 people to speed up the waiting lists in dependency.
He pointed out that Santana has a "difficult job" because a situation has been collected since 2006 in which the Canary Islands have always been "the last" in the management of dependency since funds did not arrive, so "it was difficult to get back on track".
Therefore, he has pointed out that the Executive must be "given time" and wait for the four years of mandate to conclude, to "from there put the grade and draw the conclusions".
Torres maintains that at the end of his mandate they are going to do a job "better than many think" and they will leave the dependency "better" than how they took it.
