The Tías City Council, governed by PSOE and Podemos Lanzarote, is executing a project budgeted at 639,137.75 euros and financed with its own funds to re-drill and sanitize street drainage wells in Tías and Puerto del Carmen in order to achieve greater control of rainwater.

The streets that require intervention, included in the project, are Los Lirios, Tajinaste (both in Tías), Suiza, Alcorce, Bentaguaire, Bernegal, Chinchorro, Fayna, and Zonzamas (in Puerto del Carmen). In these locations, soundings and re-drilling of pre-existing wells at different depths and diameters are being carried out.

According to the project, taking into account the volume of water accumulations, re-drilling of 650-500-315 and different diameters has been proposed. The depths will be variable in each case, ranging between 20 and 65 meters.

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, the first deputy mayor, Nicolás Saavedra, and the councilor for Urban Planning and Roads and Works, Ulpiano Calero, visited the Los Lirios area these days to supervise the work, which has an approximate execution period of 90 days.

With this action, the Tías City Council plans to improve the capacity of the filtering wells to collect and divert rainwater flowing through the area of influence of each of them into the subsoil.
