The Tías City Council has launched a new initiative to ensure safe environments in its sports facilities, by placing informative signage aimed at preventing risky situations and strengthening the protection of children and adolescents.
“You enter a safe environment for children and adolescents. No type of violence has a place in sports.” That message and others more specific make up the new visual elements that are already installed on the Manuel Arrocha García football field, in Puerto del Carmen, on the Francisco Bermúdez Hernández “Pancho” football field, and throughout the Tías municipal sports complex, especially in the stands, entrances, transit areas, and locker room entrances.
The initiative is part of the municipal commitment to the Organic Law for the Comprehensive Protection of Children and Adolescents against Violence (LOPIVI), and includes messages aimed at families, athletes, clubs, and the general public, reminding them of the shared responsibility to guarantee a safe sports environment.
Likewise, specific rules for the use of changing rooms have been put in place, focusing on privacy protection, respect, and the prevention of inappropriate behavior, in order to avoid any situation of vulnerability for minors.
In the words of the mayor, José Juan Cruz, "our duty is clear: to protect children and ensure that our sports facilities are spaces of respect and well-being." For his part, the councilor for Sports, Ismael Cruz, highlights that "this signage is another tool within the municipal plan to prevent violence in sports and support clubs, families, and young people with accessible and useful information."
The Tías City Council reminds that the facilities have contact channels to report any indication or suspicion of risky situations, and encourages the entire sports community to actively collaborate in the creation of safe, healthy, and respectful spaces.
An email address and a phone number have been set up with a designated person to handle complaints or requests in this regard. In addition to signage, a comprehensive training program has been carried out related to the protection of minors against any type of violence. The Department of Sports plans to offer more talks to monitors, families, and club officials.
