The Tías City Council has sanctioned 11 establishments, including shops, bars, and restaurants, for inadequate waste management, as part of the surveillance and inspection actions being carried out to improve the cleanliness of the municipality and prevent the accumulation of garbage in public areas.

The detected infractions are related to practices such as leaving waste bags outside containers, depositing unfolded cardboard, or incorrectly managing glass and other fractions. The imposed sanctions range from 250 to 500 euros.

The highest authorities of the council remind that trash bags can never be left in public areas or next to containers, cardboard must be deposited correctly folded, and glass must be placed in its corresponding container without bags or other waste.

The Department of Environment is making a significant effort to improve the cleanliness of the municipality through information and awareness campaigns, reinforcement of cleaning services in container areas, and surveillance and inspection actions, but reminds that these measures must be accompanied by the commitment of establishments and citizens.

“The City Council is providing resources, reinforcing cleaning, and conducting awareness campaigns, but we need everyone to comply. We cannot continuously allocate public resources to clean up what others leave incorrectly. Keeping Tías and Puerto del Carmen clean is a shared responsibility and benefits residents, establishments, and visitors,” it points out.

The City Council warns that police surveillance and inspections will continue, especially in commercial and restaurant areas, and that corresponding sanctioning proceedings will continue to be processed when non-compliance is detected.

The department insists that the objective is not to sanction, but to ensure that the rules are followed, to improve waste management, and to prevent uncivil behavior from harming the effort made daily by municipal services and the majority of citizens and establishments that do act correctly.
