The La Tiñosa Dock, next to Playa Chica in Puerto del Carmen, has been "fully operational" since this week, according to the City Council, which recalls that the area was damaged by Storm Emma, which lifted all the pavement of the small pier.

The Department of Roads and Works of the Tías City Council has completed this week the repair work on the roof of El Muellito, reinforcing it with a floated concrete "to make it more resistant to future and foreseeable new waves", after the City Council requested the Canary Islands Coastal Demarcation to grant the mandatory reports and authorizations to undertake these works.

In this sense, the mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, has highlighted that "after the damage, and knowing the procedure to obtain the mandatory permits to act in the Coastal area, the City Council assumed its will and commitment so that this place would be fully rehabilitated before the summer, as it has been." In addition, this area of Playa Chica is the venue for the 9th Open Fotosub Lanzarote Mar de Lava, which will be held this weekend on the island with the presence of numerous divers.

Along with the structure and roof of the dock, Emma also left "a desolate landscape" on the beaches of the Puerto del Carmen coastline. In this regard, the City Council points out that the natural regeneration of the tides has contributed in the spring and in the first weeks of summer to the sand covering large expanses of these coves, where Playa Chica and Playa Grande were the most affected."
