The Tías City Council approved this Tuesday in an ordinary plenary session, with the votes in favor of the government group formed by PSOE and Unidas Sí Podemos, the modification of credits of "9,622,794.47 euros" to invest in different infrastructures and services in the municipal area.

The Councilor for Economy and Finance, Tomás Silvera, explained in the plenary session that “these investment expenses cannot be delayed, as they correspond to projects and works with licenses that must be executed as soon as possible to improve the quality of life of the residents of Tías. We are talking about playgrounds, lighting, sanitation or expansion of the cemetery, among others.”

Among the planned investments to be executed with this credit modification are two million euros for resurfacing various streets, "1,334,128.21 euros" to expand the cemetery, "1,050,000 euros" for playgrounds, one million euros for public lighting, "640,000 euros" for lighting and adapting sports courts, "360,000 euros for the acquisition of vehicles, 100,000 euros for sanitation and 50,000 euros for calisthenics parks."

Tomás Silvera indicated that this modification is adopted “given the existence of expenses that cannot be delayed until the following year, and given that the year 2023 has been closed with a settlement that reflects a treasury surplus for general expenses that "amounts to 20,085,116 euros, as well as seeing that the year 2023 was closed with free liquid funds of approximately 24.4 million euros.”

Subsidies for sports events

The plenary also approved the modification of credit in the budget with "41,000 euros" deducted from the Tourism area to grant nominated subsidies for the realization of five sports events. The aforementioned events are the Club La Santa cycling tour, Fariones Run Night, Playa Grande beach volleyball, Paddle Challenger Puerto del Carmen and crossfit Tagoror Games.

On the other hand, the modification of articles 2 and 7 of the regulatory ordinance of the fee for private use or exploitation of the local public domain was approved, which updates the rates for occupation of tables and chairs in public space and extends the rate of Avenida de las Playas (which was limited to Calle Italia) to the entire Avenue, which will reach from this modification to Matagorda.
