The Tías City Council held a meeting this week with members of the Lanzarote Tourist Federation (FTL) to inform and monitor municipal initiatives in Puerto del Carmen.
The City Council points out that, as was done in 2020, with the holding of a meeting at the end of the year, the “fluid” contact with the tourism sector of the municipality “has made another annual meeting possible”. At this week's meeting it was confirmed that the City Council has been able to execute and finalize 18 of the initiatives presented last year, “which means an improvement in infrastructure and services in Puerto del Carmen.”
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, chaired the meeting together with the president of the FTL, Susana Pérez, and other members of the federation: Francisco Armas, Héctor Pulido, Rita Hernández, Francisco Martínez and Roberto Reyes. The Tourism advisor, Domingo Lorenzo, explained “the most relevant plans and projects that the council is working on.”
Regarding the works carried out during the last year, the City Council highlights “the work of various facilities and adaptation of El Fondeadero, installation work for the restaurant school of the El Fondeadero civic center, replacement of luminaires with more efficient LEDs in streets such as Ramblas Islas Canarias, Avenida de las Playas and the Risco Prieto area or the repair work on Avenida de las Playas.”
The Tías City Council maintains that it is currently working “on comprehensive improvement plans”, which are based on actions and interventions under the premise of “sustainability, improvement of energy efficiency, improvement of infrastructure, improvement of the integral water cycle, improvement of mobility and improvement of services.”
The most relevant comprehensive improvement plans are: III Modernization, Improvement and Increase of Competitiveness Plan of Puerto del Carmen; Dynamization Plan for Innovation and Quality of the Complementary Offer of Puerto del Carmen; Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination; Tourism Intelligence System; Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan; Action Plan for Climate and Sustainable Energy and the Revitalization of Gastronomic Cultural Heritage, an intentional look at the roots of Tías.
