The Provincial Court of Las Palmas will try next week the four defendants accused of extorting a person from Lanzarote, whom they threatened with kidnapping one of their relatives if they did not deposit several thousand euros in different bank accounts.

The events took place in November 2023, when the victim received two calls and several WhatsApp messages where they allegedly demanded that he pay certain amounts of money, in exchange for not kidnapping one of his relatives.

In total, the victim made four bank transfers to the four defendants S.J.S.G., S.D.B, F.S.H. and A.E.C.C. for a value of 6,500 euros.

According to the Prosecutor's Office, these four defendants and a fifth investigated person who is at large had agreed to obtain an illicit patrimonial benefit.

The defendants "have shown an attitude of repentance for the events and have confessed their authorship in court." In addition, they have deposited 1,680 euros to the victim. For this reason, the Public Prosecutor's Office asks for each of them six months in prison for a crime of conditional threats. To which it adds compensation for the value of the defrauded money.
