The Tías City Council has decided this Friday morning to allow bathing again on the Pila de la Barrilla beach, better known as Chica beach, in Puerto del Carmen, after members of the Insular Emergency Consortium have verified the disappearance of the large jellyfish bank detected on Thursday. This was what caused the red flag to be raised and swimming to be prohibited in this area.

The Tías City Council has reported that municipal services remain attentive in case a massive presence of these jellyfish is detected again, whose sting "can be dangerous for people's health." If they appear again, the prohibition of bathing in any of the municipality's beaches would be re-established as a precaution.

Tías also had to raise the yellow flag on the beaches of Matagorda, Los Pocillos and Playa Grande this Thursday. Although no jellyfish were detected, this measure served to warn bathers to be cautious.

The beaches of Haría and Teguise, which suffered this plague of jellyfish during the weekend and until Tuesday, are now open for swimming due to the disappearance of these jellyfish.
