The Yaiza City Council, presided over by Óscar Noda, in addition to paying a total of 4.6 million euros during the first four months of the year, has increased its investment pace with works in progress totaling more than 9.2 million euros, while also maintaining the lowest unemployment rate among the five most populated municipalities in Lanzarote. Yaiza is close to full employment and that is also good news.
Óscar Noda maintains that “we comply in time and form by paying our suppliers and even more so given the current war situation plagued by uncertainty, where we all face price increases and the rising cost of living”.
The mayor highlights that “the Institution can also boast of zero financial debt, so the investments we make we pay for with our own resources and collaborations with other public administrations, which fully trust in our capacity to respond. During recent years, we have been able to invest treasury surpluses in welfare projects”.
With respect to the 9.2 million investment, Yaiza executes the rehabilitation of Avenida Papagayo in Playa Blanca (2.6 million), implements the sanitation of Uga (1.8 million), conditions the entire environment of the Uga wrestling ground (1.3 million), improves the Uga court and the exteriors of the school (952,000), modernizes the playgrounds of Marcastell (197,000) and Faro Pechiguera (110,000), and is about to start the construction of a new road, Azores, in the vicinity of the Playa Blanca Health Center (924,000) and the total modernization of the entrance to Playa Blanca from Femés (1.3 million).
“We manage municipal accounts responsibly, but it is also fair to recognize the effort of neighbors, businessmen and self-employed workers, who comply with the payment of fees and taxes,” adds the mayor.
