The Lanzarote and La Graciosa Water Consortium has begun this Tuesday to carry out works on the sanitation network of Guenia street with Fred Olsen Avenue, in Arrecife.
As La Voz has been able to ascertain, the work being carried out is based on the replacement of some pumping stations and repair work on the sanitation network.
The operators closed part of Fred Olsen Avenue, where they opened a trench under the road.
The situation is that a few days ago, the Arrecife City Council closed El Reducto beach again due to fecal contamination. Two days later and after analyses revealed that the water was suitable for swimming, the City Council reopened it.
On previous occasions when swimming in El Reducto was prohibited, the Arrecife City Council and the Water Consortium carried out searches in this area to find out the origin of the fecal discharges, although on this occasion they considered that their origin was due to "the presence of high tides this September and the possible presence of discharge residues in the subsoil in the vicinity of El Reducto beach".
