A video of an unusual operation of two planes at Lanzarote airport has gone viral. Lanzarotewebcam recorded this Monday, September 28, the moment when an Iberia Express plane entered the runway while a Ryanair flight from Dublin was landing.
The incident took place when Ryanair flight FR5910, from Dublin, was about to land on runway 03 at the Lanzarote airport. Before the plane completely left the runway, an Iberia Express flight, IB1502 bound for Madrid, accessed the runway using exit E1 of runway 03.
The Iberia Express plane was scheduled to take off from runway 21. The maneuver caused the two aircraft to coincide on the same flight surface, one landing and the other preparing for takeoff.
According to information released by Lanzarote Webcam about the episode, the Ryanair plane was able to brake in time and continue its journey along the runway until it exited via exit E2.
Operations on airport runways require constant coordination between aircraft and control services, especially when landings and takeoffs occur consecutively.
