The Lanzarote Tourism Federation (FTL) is asking the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, for a "clarification to the tour operators of the United Kingdom regarding the statements of Lanzarote as a saturated island."
The Federation's reaction comes "after the latest statement by the top leader of the major British tour operator Jet2&Jet2Holidays, Steve Heapy, and the successive publications by British media and specialized tourism portals, which have echoed this misunderstanding, and which are still occurring, interpreting that Lanzarote is tired of the British tourists who visit the island."
In this sense, the employers' association asks the president of the Cabildo "to clarify this situation in the face of the flood of negative reactions, to detail the concept of higher quality tourism correctly, and even hold the necessary meetings with representatives of the British market, emphasizing that our island is open to receiving visitors from anywhere in the world, as it cannot be otherwise."
From the Tourism Federation they point out that "all tourists are welcome to Lanzarote and can enjoy multiple tourist experiences on our island, for all budgets and nationalities."
"We have always had very strong ties with the British market and, thanks to this, relations have been strengthened in such a way that they present a high rate of loyalty to the island. Lanzarote is an absolutely hospitable island and will continue to be so for British tourists, so we emphasize its importance in the tourist and economic sphere of the island," says the Employers' Association.
