The Councilor for Public Works of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Jacobo Medina, has announced the reopening to traffic of the LZ-409 road, which connects Mozaga with El Peñón, after being partially closed since last June due to an accident.

The closure of the road was necessary after a bus crashed into a house located next to the Mozaga roundabout, which caused the partial collapse of the building and generated a risk to traffic. Since then, and for security reasons, the right lane remained closed to traffic in the section between kilometer points 0+000 and 0+050.

“From the Cabildo of Lanzarote we have been constantly monitoring the evolution of the work necessary to guarantee the stability of the affected property and the safety of drivers”, explained Jacobo Medina. “Today we can announce that the road is now completely open and operational, which restores full connectivity between Mozaga and El Peñón”.

The councilor thanked the users of this road for their patience and understanding during the weeks in which the partial closure was maintained, and reiterated the Cabildo's commitment to the continuous improvement and safety of the island's road infrastructure.
