The driver of the Line 16 bus, operated by Arrecife Bus, has been fired after the accident that occurred last Saturday at the Mozaga roundabout, in Teguise. As confirmed by the concessionaire company, the worker did not pass the trial period, which is why his services were dispensed with. The accident occurred when the vehicle, which was covering the route between Arrecife and La Santa, deviated from its path and crashed into a centuries-old house located next to the LZ-409 road.

At the time of the accident, the driver was carrying two passengers, and fortunately there were no personal injuries to regret. The first hypotheses point to a distraction as the cause of the crash, although no further details have been made public about the exact circumstances. The dismissal of the driver adds to the consequences of the accident, which has left a property of great sentimental and cultural value seriously damaged, and whose reconstruction is being demanded by neighbors and authorities.

The company Arrecife Bus has acted quickly after the event, disassociating itself from the driver just days after the incident. The case has generated concern in the local community, especially as it is a symbolic point on the route of pilgrims to Mancha Blanca. The driver had been on the staff for a short time, which may have influenced the business decision not to extend his employment relationship.

Kiko Corujo, heir to the property and a well-known resident of the area, was shocked by the events and lamented the partial loss of the house, which has been a symbol of the road to Mancha Blanca for generations. "I was trembling. I couldn't believe it," he said, still with a fright in his body. The house, which has had multiple community uses over time, is also recognized by the sign 'Pa Dolores', a traditional reference for pilgrims who come to the sanctuary of the Virgen de Los Dolores.
