The PSOE assures that Arrecife could have to return in advance the 27 million of the loan that Astrid Pérez requested to pay for the Ginory land. "Astrid Pérez wanted to advance the money to the owners of Ginory at all costs, this is the only way to explain the recklessness with which the Popular Party has acted in this murky matter", she denounces.
According to Cristina Duque, "the mayor of the city signed a loan of 27 million euros with a clause that states that ´'the bank will at all times have the power to verify the reality of the investment of the loan in the purpose for which it is intended. If it notices that a different application is given to the amount lent.(…) The bank may (…) terminate the contract (…)'. Which means that the 27 million have a final character just like a subsidy, and that in the event that the money is not used for what was agreed, the bank could liquidate the loan and demand the return of the amount".
From the PSOE of Arrecife they affirm that the loan has to be "destined to two fundamental aspects: to liquidate the debt of the Ginory and to investments for a value of more than 4 million euros in the municipality". “Neither of the two purposes have been resolved, on the one hand the payment of the Ginory has led the property to request another 12 million in interest concepts and of the more than 4 million euros in public works of various kinds nothing has been executed, with a mayor installed in ineptitude and in a constant war” clarifies Cristiana Duque, spokesperson for the PSOE in Arrecife.
For the socialists, "Pérez's operation with the Ginory property is becoming less and less understandable". “What is becoming more than evident is that, for some reason that nobody understands, Astrid wanted to advance the money of the owners at all costs, and the legacy may suppose a greater ruin even than the one that the PP government generated in the city in 2010”, explains Duque. "And nobody has been able to understand why this loan was requested without a signed agreement with the property, and even less without the projects to which in theory more than 4 million were going to be allocated", they assert.
The socialists harshly criticize this management. "If we add the PP's madness in this matter, we realize that the Popular's operation is being terrible". First a loan was requested mortgaging the City Council, discovered by the PSOE, 22 million euros were paid secretly, on December 31, then it was said that more than 7 million would be saved, later it was discovered that nothing was signed with the property, to finally see how they claim another 12 million euros for a very dubious land. And as if that were not enough, the deadlines for the revision of the fair price were missed, which could save millions to the city. “Astrid Pérez has become a cancer and has now placed Arrecife at the mercy of a bank, and all for paying a fortune secretly to the owners of the land that has become the most expensive in the history of the Canary Islands”.
The PSOE warns the Popular Party that it will not stop denouncing the millions that Astrid Pérez hides from the citizens, and asks them for a minimum of loyalty to their people, “The mayor has to understand that she owes herself to the citizens of the city and not to some owners to whom the PP's management has made millionaires” recalls Duque.
