The PSOE suggests to the Teguise City Council to solve the debt with Inalsa by ceding land for the development of Renewable Energies

"It is the most convenient for the public interest, both for the City Council and for Inalsa", says Marcos Bergaz

The PSOE of Teguise insists to the government group of Oswaldo Betancort on the option of compensating with land the payment of more than one and a half million euros to Inalsa for the municipal water consumption between 2002 and 2013. "This option is the most convenient for the public interest, both for the City Council and for Inalsa, because we avoid a hard blow for the municipal coffers and we make available to the public company land where they can continue betting on the implementation of clean energy", says Bergaz.

"When we announced the judgment by which the City Council was condemned to pay 1,478,012.25 euros, plus default interest and costs, we pointed out the forcefulness of the judicial decision, we advised not to appeal and agree with Inalsa, betting on the transfer of land for clean energy, which we insist on. At least they have listened to us in not appealing a forceful sentence, now it is time to avoid the payment of more than one and a half million euros through a transfer of land that would benefit both parties", says the socialist mayor.

It should be remembered that Inalsa is the main producer of renewable energy on the island of Lanzarote, exploiting different wind farms, such as the one in Teguise, Arrecife about to come into operation or the future wind farm in San Bartolomé, all of them in the vicinity of Montaña Mina; in addition to participating in the one in Los Vallés within Eólicas Lanzarote.

"Whether the transfer of land is the formula - which we are betting on - or the payment, with a payment plan and trying to reduce the debt, action must be taken quickly to reach a transactional agreement before the judgment becomes final, because in that case it would be necessary to execute it without further ado. Therefore, we urge the mayor to get involved in the definitive resolution of this matter", confirmed Bergaz.

The socialist group that has informed the public and all citizens of this matter due to its importance, regrets the bad example that is given when an administration, for more than a decade, does not pay for water, something not exclusively attributable to Teguise, but that recurs because they paid Canal Gestión in 2019 water bills for more than 200,000 euros belonging to the years 2014, 2016 and 2017. "Of course, this government group does not pay for water like any other citizen, no matter how hard they try to say it from the municipal executive", said Bergaz.
