The PSOE responds to Vázquez: "The 25,000 euros salary increase is stated in the CACT accounts"

According to the socialists, "the PP is too accustomed to lying, even when the evidence corners them. They do one thing with one hand and deny it with the other and don't even blush"

The Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote and its counselor and former head of the Centers for Art, Culture, and Tourism, Benjamín Perdomo, have responded in a press release to the statements by Ángel Vázquez, who accuses the socialists of "lying" about his salary. "That Ángel Vázquez increased his salary by 25,000 euros is not said by the PSOE, it is said by the CACT's accounts. These are official figures, published and accessible to all citizens," they state.

The socialists recall that "the remuneration tables of the Tourist Centers themselves, available on the Entity's website, clearly show that the total annual remuneration of the CEO was €69,785.37 in 2023, while in 2024 it amounts to €94,742.48, that is, almost €25,000 more and an increase of close to 36% in a single year". "In this case, the data kills Ángel Vázquez's narrative," they emphasize.

"Ángel Vázquez has taken four months to respond. Four months looking for stratagems to try and square a response with his version, but no matter how much he gets tangled up, the figures are in black and white," Perdomo states. "First he denied the increase, now he's trying to confuse by mixing up remuneration concepts. But the reality is very simple: between 2023 and 2024 the CEO's salary skyrockets," he continues.

From the Socialist Group, they point out that "the problem is not just Ángel Vázquez, it is the way the Popular Party does politics." "The PP is too accustomed to lying and not telling the truth, even when the evidence corners them. They don't even blush doing one thing with one hand and denying it with the other. That double discourse degrades institutions and erodes citizens' trust," they warn.

The PSOE accuses Vázquez of trying to "twist the truth to divert attention from his management." "He says we are lying, but the one who manipulates is the one who tries to deny an increase that is clearly reflected in the official accounts of the Centers," they insist from the island organization.

The socialists also emphasize that "this lack of clarity is not an isolated incident and they demand maximum transparency in the use of public resources." "We hope not to be surprised when the expenses charged to the CEO's card are known in detail: citizens have the right to know that every euro strictly corresponds to their duties and the general interest," they conclude.
