The PSOE of Tinajo has denounced the new delay in the expansion of the municipal medical clinic, after the project has been postponed due to errors in its economic planning and has to be processed again.

The socialist spokesperson in the Tinajo City Council, Begoña Hernández, has described the situation as "unacceptable" and has accused the mayor, Jesús Machín, and the president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, of "remaining silent in the face of the blocking of a necessary health action to adequately serve the population".

“The expansion of the clinic has been necessary for years and now it is delayed again due to poor management. Tinajo cannot continue to pay for the lack of foresight of administrations that announce projects but are not capable of executing them in a timely manner,” Hernández has denounced.

Hernández has pointed out that the action includes the creation of a new medical consultation room, another for nursing, and a multipurpose room, spaces necessary to improve healthcare and respond to the limitations of the current facilities.

For the PSOE, the postponement "evidences a worrying lack of planning, control, and follow-up by the administrations governed by Coalición Canaria".

“Announcing an investment and taking a photograph is very easy. Governing means checking that projects are well prepared, monitoring compliance with deadlines, and defending actions until they become real services for the citizens,” the socialist spokesperson has stated.

Hernández has particularly criticized the attitude of Jesús Machín, considering that the mayor "should have reacted immediately to the postponement and demanded an urgent solution and a concrete timetable from the Government of the Canary Islands to re-tender the works".

“Jesús Machín should be showing his face, demanding accountability, and insisting that the clinic be expanded as soon as possible. His silence demonstrates, once again, that he finds it difficult to confront his own party even when the interests of Tinajo are at stake,” she has affirmed.

“Tinajo needs answers, dates, and solutions. The quality of life of our neighbors cannot be trapped between poorly made files, empty announcements, and leaders who hide when problems arise,” Begoña Hernández has concluded.
