The Socialist Group of the Tinajo City Council has expressed its “deep concern about the state of stagnation in which the municipality finds itself”, after the late approval and unbalanced investment of the municipal budgets for the year 2024.

The spokesperson for the Socialist Group, Begoña Hernández, has pointed out that these budgets, presented in the middle of August, when there are only four months left to finish the year, “are a reflection of the lack of planning and long-term vision on the part of the mayor Jesús Machín and his government team”. "These budgets not only arrive late, but also do not respond to the true needs of the municipality," Hernández said during her speech.

The Socialist Group denounces that the items allocated to remuneration of the government group have experienced “a scandalous increase, allocating 94,000 euros more than in the previous year”, as well as the items allocated to assignments to external companies, which calls into question the responsible use of public funds. "It is unacceptable that the government group prioritizes its own remuneration and external hiring, while essential resources for the municipality are cut," Begoña Hernández stressed.

In this sense, the socialist spokesperson pointed out that, alarmingly, the items that have suffered a considerable reduction are those aimed at fundamental areas such as education, culture, scholarships for students in the municipality, investment in projects aimed at youth and support for key sectors such as agriculture and fishing. “These cuts demonstrate a lack of commitment to the future of the municipality and to the well-being of its inhabitants”, says Hernández.

"The future of Tinajo cannot be subject to the inefficiency and disinterest of a local government that shows that it has no project for the municipality. It is evident that Jesús Machín is not capable of facing the challenges that Tinajo needs”, says the socialist spokesperson, who has also lamented the mayor's attitude during the plenary debate. “When Jesús Machin is reminded of his unfulfilled promises, he enters into an empty discourse instead of facing the challenges for the progress of the municipality of Tinajo. It is sad to see how the mayor evades his promises instead of developing concrete actions”, he concluded.
