The Socialist Party of Lanzarote has demanded the immediate termination of the selective waste collection contract due to "the continuous deterioration of the service", which has led to the accumulation of garbage in different parts of the island and "a repeated breach of the required quality standards".

“The selective collection is not working and the situation is unsustainable. The management is being a failure and the Cabildo cannot continue to look the other way while Lanzarote suffers the consequences of poor management,” denounced Benjamín Perdomo, councilor of the Socialist Group in the Cabildo of Lanzarote.

The PSOE of Lanzarote recalls that "Oswaldo Betancort has not only allowed the service to degrade, but has also not demanded responsibilities from the awarded company nor has he adopted corrective measures."

“The lack of control and supervision by the Cabildo has led to this disaster. If urgent decisions are not made, the problem will only get worse. We demand the termination of the contract and a new management that guarantees an efficient service in accordance with the island's environmental commitments,” added Perdomo.

The socialists insist that "it is essential to act immediately to stop the deterioration of the service and recover quality levels that avoid the negative impact that this situation is generating on citizens and the environment."
