The PSOE of Lanzarote denounces that Oswaldo Betancort "has once again failed the island, allowing the Government of the Canary Islands to exclude Lanzarote from the fuel bonus that will reach the rest of the islands. A decision that represents a serious damage to the citizens and that shows, once again, the lack of political weight of the president of the Cabildo".
The spokesperson for the Socialist Group in the Cabildo, Ariagona González, has been blunt: “While other presidents of councils have fought for this aid to reach their territories, Oswaldo Betancort has limited himself to keeping silent and obeying Coalición Canaria and Clavijo, without moving a single finger for Lanzarote and La Graciosa”.
From the PSOE of Lanzarote they warn that this exclusion aggravates the difficult economic situation of the families and companies of the island. “Here the price of fuel is already high enough for them to now leave us out of a measure that will benefit the rest of the Canary Islands. Betancort has shown that he does not know, does not want to or cannot defend this island”.
The socialists demand an immediate rectification from the Government of the Canary Islands so that Lanzarote and La Graciosa are included in this bonus, but they also demand that Oswaldo Betancort "assume his responsibility and stop being a mere spectator of how the island is punished".
“Every time Lanzarote has to be defended, Betancort fails. He has not been able to manage the water crisis, he has not been able to protect the right to housing and now he has not even been able to guarantee that this island receives the same aid as the rest. He has failed again defending his people”.
